1) Xishen doesn't seem particularly impressed by his response, and won't waste too much time debating with him about it when there is a fight she needs to be keeping an eye on. However, she will pause long enough to answer his first point with:
"I've seen the 'later'. I've lived through it. I'm not interested in doing it again."
And for the second:
"I'm not the one with something to prove."
2) The sailors appreciate his help, and since he's being chill will become more at ease with him. There is still that edge of anxiety, as if there is the fear that he may turn on them if pushed to do so, but in general they will be friendly with him. The sailors also just seem to want to get through their day comfortably.
