He's pretty indifferent to her first response, but the second will make him pause, though he still won't commit (see: the whole non-negotiable stance). Just a little seedling of doubt he'll ignore until it's relevant again.

He totally gets just wanting to get through the day and is unlikely to pick up on that edge of anxiety in any way that matters (i.e. if expressed towards him he may stop with a blank look before shrugging and going back to what he's doing — it's the kind of thing he's used to, albeit he doesn't really know why that's happening here).
