Abel takes another stiff step back, shaking his head in some denial-- he does not want to do this; neither of them want to do this, but-- it, of course, goes unheeded. there's a soft exhale of protest as Eustace is suddenly too close for comfort, yet all he can do is... unhelpfully... reach out and tangle his fingers in whatever he can reach of Eustace's clothing, trying to grab hold of him to keep his equilibrium and prevent himself from losing his footing entirely.
