It's not that he isn't cowed -- he is, seeing this completely unfamiliar hostility from Emet-Selch of all people, bolstered by what he remembers seeing of the man's memories -- but it's simply that he's inclined to bristle harder the more discomforted he is. Shoulders squared and hand clenched to a pale-knuckled fist at his side in mixed caution and indignity, he seems prepared to either escalate this to a physical altercation, or turn around and leave. Or maybe one after the other.
It's only that quiet tone of voice Emet-Selch employs that ultimately discourages him from either option. ]
