He doesn't have much experience in the way of gathering raw materials, at least not the sort he'd need for a lance, so he'd certainly lean towards helping the Resistance with repairs and creating their weapons in exchange for information on how to go about finding and mining the materials he needs. Since he comes from a technologically advanced society, he'd be able to offer suggestions when it comes to forging stronger metals that would be less prone to breaking.

Making lances is, bizarrely, a carpentry skill in Final Fantasy XIV, so he'd also ask about any particular trees that have strong but flexible wood that could be used as a base.

He won't ask people to guide him to the spots to get raw materials; at most he'll borrow a bag and tools.
