Crane withdraws the offered bag without complaint when Silco refuses the offer of nuts, but takes a small handful and eats them himself. Which means the nuts aren't actually laced with anything, or Crane's not stupid enough to develop a chemical for which he also did not have some kind of immunization towards. Could be either, really.
