[Fortunately for Liem, he’s not quite so gullible as to assume that Gen is actually going to leave him here just because he appears to enjoy making him squirm. His brows knit into a frown at the direction of that drawled thought, but it’s frustration rather than despair that prompts the expression. While he doesn’t necessarily believe that Gen intends to abandon him to his fate, his enjoyment certainly could result in Liem slipping from his position if he indulges in it for too long. It’s not a pleasant thing to contemplate.
He’s hoping that if he just gives him a moment to have his chuckle, the young man will eventually get around to helping him out. And happily, this instinct proves correct. Liem winces slightly as Gen leans his weight against his ankle, but does his best to acquiesce to his direction, letting him haul him back out of the well. Liem’s heart flip-flops in his throat as he’s pried from his wedged position against the stone, but only for a moment—then he’s perched on the stone wall again, dragging his other leg back over the side and pushing away from the entire construction as though worried it might snatch him back in.]
Oh gods… Thank you.
[Despite the young man’s rather ungracious attitude, Liem’s thanks is genuinely relieved. He takes a deep breath, brushing off his rumpled robes and running a hand through his hair, and looking up at Gen, who he now sees is even taller than he might have supposed.]

Genuinely—I’m in your debt.
