Who: Majorita and Meteion
What: The demon goes to visit a friend she isn't yet willing to call her friend.
Where: Inside the Citadel
When: Late June
Why: I don't have to answer you, you're not my dad!
In the hallways of the the residential area of the Citadel, a short girl with purple hair was pacing. She'd been doing so for almost twenty minutes now, always heading towards a certain hall but turning back before going down it. She'd done it three separate times now, almost reaching a certain room, turning back and walking almost all the way back to her own, pausing, and then going back. There's no reason for her to be this hesitant. Its not like the person she's trying to get herself to visit would turn her away. The real struggle is why she's even doing it. Is she actually worried? She certainly wouldn't think so if asked, and would likely insult anyone foolish enough to insinuate such a thing. Why should SHE worry about anyone that isn't herself? Selfish thinking like that had kept her alive so far. It certainly hadn't endeared her to the people around her, but she had herself convinced it didn't matter.
And yet here she was on trip four. This time she managed to make it all the way to her destination without turning back. And there she stood, staring at the door as if concerned it was going to come to life eat her. She turns to walk away, and has her back on the door entirely, even getting a step or two away from it, before she stops herself. This is stupid. Where is all her self confidence? The stupid girl should be HAPPY she was out here, right? There's no reason for this nonsensical hesitation. She doesn't allow herself a chance to second guess herself. With a pounding of her fist on the door to Meteion's room, she announces her presence. "Hey. Hey bird. Its me. Open up."

Gurbahl wastes no time in letting the demon in, stepping aside and bowing politely to her. He's not necessarily as fawning as Charlotte is, and his regard is more respectful, but it is warm regard nonetheless.
Meteion is there, but she sits motionless on the bed for the moment--though once Majorita is actually present, and within the room, it takes no more than her retainer closing the door for the entelechy to launch herself off the bed at the demon. Nothing dangerous here--she ends up hugging Majorita. But only for a few brief moments--she knows how Majorita reacted the last time Meteion hugged her.
"I'm glad to see you! I was worried." Likely for the same reasons as Gurbahl was, but he'd already touched on that, and the bird wasn't going to go over ground already tread.

She knew well how the entelechy is. But there was something different about this greeting. It was, perhaps, the first time she actually BELIEVED it when the bird said she was worried about her. This little idiot actually thinks of her as a friend. Maybe it was because she didn't know the things the demon had done. Or maybe she wouldn't even care.
Feeling awkward, she needs a distraction. Thankfully she had one of her own on hand. "I brought cookies." She holds up a little box in a simple cloth bag. "There's one for you, too. Charlotte insisted." The 'you' in question is directed to the hulking mass of green that was politely standing by as two tiny girls spoke in front of him. "In her words we 'both needed a little happiness'. A load of nonsense, of course. I'm fine." Which is why she was pacing around the hallways before finally knocking. "But if you want one, go ahead. I don't even care." She's trying so hard to act like her normal self, but the hard edge on her voice just doesn't seem to be quite there today.

It is absolutely true that Meteion...probably wouldn't care about the things Majorita had done. After all, she and her sisters had done terrible things. Less Meteion herself, perhaps, but she's guilty all the same.
"If Charlotte insisted, it wouldn't be right if you didn't share as well, Miss Majorita." Inasmuch as Meteion would have said the same, she's gratified that Gurbahl said it for her, at the moment. She seems to be having problems finding her voice, but Meteion nods firmly in agreement.

"F..fine. If you say so." The reason that there was only one for each of them was obvious when she opened the box. They were not regular sized cookies. Each was bigger then her hand. Her hands weren't that big, but it still made for a rather immense sweet. "She got them from that old guy she introduced us to before." And then, silence for a few seconds. "Now, eat your cookie then tell me why you're acting like that. Even I can tell you aren't yourself."
no subject
She'd probably use it against him.
"Ser Haron?" Meteion does pick a cookie, then, though she uncharacteristically doesn't ask if either of them have a preference, first. For his part, however, Gurbahl is pleased that Meteion is, at least, eating something. There's a saying--'eating like a bird'--but birds tend to spend a lot of time eating small meals. Meteion has been eating small meals, but only sparingly, and only if reminded. The demon was right when she said the bird wasn't herself.
"And I met the Innocence--it's the Innocent, really. The Legacy. I'm not certain I believe it, but...it spoke to me. And it was sad for me, because I was Kenoma. I'm."
To say that she didn't know how to deal with that, and the Regent's disapproval? They hadn't precisely been angry, and that was almost worse. And in truth Meteion can kind of understand why she was upset about the Legacy. She's still in knots inside about it, and it shows.

"You TALKED to it?" The tone in her voice is incredulous. She doesn't think she's being lied to, but if anything, that just makes things worse. "And it acted like it was sad? Why? It was hurting so many people and it claims its SAD? What a load of nonsense. That thing was a monster, Meteion." She doesn't even realize its the first time she ever called the other girl by her real name. "It doesn't have the right to try and judge you. Are YOU sad here? I know you know plenty of people other then just me, do you think all of them are wrong just because something said its sad? You know better then that."
She was clearly getting worked up. It is hardly rare for her, of course, but"I...know why you feel that way, though. That thing made me remember things I was trying to forget. Back when nothing had gone wrong and I had a normal, happy life. But that is why I HATE it. I'll never have a life like that again, and it just had to go and REMIND ME. You aren't in the wrong being here. Remember that."

Which probably clarifies why Meteion is so upset. As an empath, she's more attuned to feelings--and pain is involved in that.
"Monster it might be, but it was...overwhelming to me. Feeling what it felt. And--I understand how you feel, Majorita. I don't know what happened to you, other than what you've said, but...it reminded me of things I didn't want to remember either. My sisters. Life back on Elpis--before I gave Hermes my report." The horrible things she and the Meteia had done--Meteion hadn't really done them herself, but she certainly didn't try to stop it either, buried beneath the weight of her sisters' will...

It took her several seconds to find her voice again. That in itself was a rarity for the normally outspoken girl. She just says the first thing that comes to her mind. She doesn't take the time to think it over, to wrap it in the same layers of mental armor she always does. What comes out of her is unfiltered and, perhaps, one of the most honest thing she's ever said to the other girl. "You should have came to me first. I would have let you know you're not a disappointment. I actually like...." A pause. That is just a wee too much honesty for her. "Well, at least don't hate you. I barely know this 'Gray' girl, but she seems no worse. What I am trying to say is that this thing was probably just jealous. We have the best 'innocents' here, after all."
no subject
"I'm not certain you're the authority on these things." In regards to Rita's 'best Innocents' comment. Though it does have Meteion huffing a breathy laugh. She tilts her head at the demon, birdlike. "Are you sure you don't hate me?" Meteion's certain Majorita doesn't, but that's a bit more like the old Meteion--pre-Horos Meteion, even, when she lived in Elpis. No stuttering here, however. But the vague memory of a far more cheerful and childlike Meteion.
Not that she doesn't act childlike still, at times.
"Gray is good. But it feels to me like she's shouldering some burden. I don't know what it is; she hasn't spoken to me of it. But I like her. Of course, I consider her a friend." Because of course the bird does. It would likely be a shock if Meteion didn't consider Gray a friend.

She seems to relax ever so slightly when she gets a laugh. She's forced to admit to herself she actually sort of cared about what sort of response she got. It was a rare attempt by her to actually be NICE to someone, so it was somewhat gratifying to not have it fall entirely flat. But she is still herself, so there is a mild hint of irritation in her voice when she responds.
"Do you think I'd have come here if I hated you? I avoid things I don't like. You confuse me. A lot. But that is it. Being confused is at least sort of interesting. But speaking of that girl, we actually spoke some awhile back. For some reason, she wanted me tell her what her 'good points' were. I should have just given her the easy answer, but instead we spoke for awhile. I'm not surprised you get along with her. I feel like you'd try to make friends with even the most vile monsters around." After all, there was a literal demon come over to visit.

"According to you, you're one of those vile monsters. As if I believed that for a second." She's also made friends with Zenos viator Galvus, of all people, and he isn't a fluffy, huggable guy, either.
"Do I believe you've power? Yes. Do I believe you'd even use it against me? If you had to, yes. Not because I'm annoying or anything, but." It's not as if Meteion hasn't made Majorita prickly in the past...
"I try to make friends with everyone, though. I am just not sure how far I've gotten with most people. But I guess I'm generally inoffensive. I try to be."
At least Majorita can take comfort in the fact that the bird's mood seems to be improving, if she's trying to poke fun.
"How have you been? I'm not sure Venera was easy for anyone..."

"Its true. I told you the sort of nicknames I had back home. You don't become the Corpse Master Overlord by being nice." She actually sounds mildly offended at NOT being thought of as a monster. She worked hard to be feared, you know! But its the sort of offended that isn't really angry. She was just a little bit miffed.
When the subject of her using power against Meteion comes up, a little frown touches her face. "Of course I would. If the Regent ordered it." Its unspoken, but she is implying that without a direct order, she likely would not. Considering she is the sort that won't wait to resort to violence, it actually meant something. The bird being inoffensive is pretty obvious, someone she had managed to push past Majorita's general annoyance with her to the point she came to visit out of worry.
"I don't remember everything that happened. I just remember waking up missing a leg, and being carried away on someone's back. Some guy named Childe was the one that found me. I sort of remembering being called 'Rita-chan' for some reason. I guess..." Time for a little more honesty. "I guess the whole thing kind of bothered me a little bit. There was nothing I could do. I ended up HELPLESS. But it sounds like you had it even WORSE."
