[closed] cross-faction talks
Who: Emet-Selch, Liem, Howl, Misa, Abel, Ernesto, Alphinaud, Hiccup
What: Cross-factiontherapy talks
Where: Sovereign Shrine
When: July 6th(ish), mid-afternoon
Warnings: None anticipated? Will update if necessary!
It is an unremarkable afternoon in Horos; the sun is shining, the breeze is breezing, and among the quiet reverie of the Sovereign’s Shrine… a slow trickle of Aion begin to congregate.
Emet-Selch and Abel bid you welcome to the day’s endeavors, laying out the only rules of the land: this is a place for discussion, and violence is absolutely not permitted. Everyone here has agreed to be on their best behavior and if talks are getting heated - there’s plenty of room to cool one’s head beyond the Shrine’s entranceway beneath the calming sunlight where one might take in the sight of the surrounding mountains’ peaks.
After the events in Venera, tensions may be running high between certain parties and the escalation between sects seems inevitable. Whether you’ve come here to discuss the possibility of diffusing those tensions or are looking to stoke the flames all the hotter… speak your piece. No one knows if you’ll get a second chance in such a setting, after all. Who’s to say what the future holds…?
[ ooc notes: please use the OPEN DISCUSSION thread as a network-style free for all! We’re expecting dialogue-heavy, introspection lite boomeranging here to keep the conversation moving since there are a lot of parties involved. Threadjacking is encouraged! If there’s anything you’d like to take to a 1 on 1 or smaller group, hit up the CLOSED DISCUSSION thread for a deeper dive in a quieter setting. OPEN MIC is the spot for you to bring up whatever you’ve been dying to ask everyone. Or to stir the pot. You do you. ]

“Even if there’s no one ideal you can point to that made you reject the Kenoma’s goals, that doesn’t explain to me why you’d be standing there,” he points out.
“There’s a difference between not wanting to be a part of the Regent’s goals and having the resolve to pit yourself against them as their enemy. That’s what I’m referring to when I speak about conviction.”

"Were you there with the first round of us, Father?"
It's a disingenuous question of Ernesto to ask, because he remembers the faces of the people from his time in the cavern well. He is quick to recognize which Aions happened to suffer that particular bit of fun, as well as which ones didn't.
"Towards the end of our time there, I don't think I really was given much of a choice on that one. I don't think any of us that didn't want to accept the Regent's goals were. If we decided we weren't going to stand with them, then they decided for us that we were against them."

“No, I was among those who arrived during the Lover’s Moon.”
At the time, even the difference of those few months had made his compatriots in Achamoth seem infinitely more experienced than himself, but he’s beginning to get the sense that none of the aions who arrived this year really have a full understanding of their present circumstances.
“So you’re saying you’re simply the kind of man who would rather stand and fight than go into hiding and wait to be hunted.”

He does envy the Kenoma the ability to not have to lie about just how much they belong on this planet.
The assessment gives him some pause, and he wonders just how honest he should be about this. It doesn’t really behoove him to be too honest, and to admit he’s the type to hide in plain sight, and then let loose in the nastiest way when the time calls for it. So instead he’ll agree with Liem, even if it’s not totally accurate.
“If I’m going to be backed into a corner anyways, then why not go down swinging, right?”
His expression brightens.
“Unless, of course, we can manage to work something out during these talks here. I’d really rather not have to fight either.”
