EVENT #5: SOVEREIGN CITIZENS (GODSBLOOD)
Sovereign Citizens
GODSBLOOD

Though losing a proud daughter of an influential family, there seems to be little that the people of Godsblood can do besides accept it. After all, they are still a city of the Regent's empire, and for all the freedom they've enjoyed, there are limits. If she was truly aiding the Pleroma, the sworn enemies of the Regent - and in an organized manner, if the rumors are to be believed - can they truly object? Or would challenging the Regent's claim simply invite more death?
As with many things, the families of Godsblood are torn. Tensions are thick for the five days leading up to Vaeka's appointed execution by hanging, with everyone having an opinion and few wanting to go on record talking about it too loudly. As such, the people's frustrations come out in other ways. Bloodites are uncharacteristically unfriendly to strangers in this time, keeping to their own and treating everyone else with overt skepticism.
Those that have arrived as part of the Regent's official envoy, or seen guarding Vaeka, will receive a particularly icy reception. No longer are the Kenoma curious wanderers on personal business. Now, they are here as the hands of the Regent; few of the Godsblood citizens are foolish enough to challenge them outright, but they are ever an honest people.
Early on, the Kenoma and the rest of the Achamite contingent sent with them will be able to take over a jail in downtown Godsblood to hold Vaeka until her execution, clearing out all other Bloodite prisoners and employees in the meantime. This means they have a relatively secure position to guard their prisoner from, which is a good thing; after all, the Regent did outright invite the Pleroma to stop them, and Pleroma are nothing if not stubborn.
EXECUTION DAY
After five agonizing days of waiting and several high visible conflicts between the Pleroma and Kenoma, finally the hour of Vaeka's execution arrives. A gallows is set outside of City Hall, ready to welcome its newest victim, and a massive crowd has gathered in an spirit of anxious anticipation. Some worry that violence may break out in the streets, even without the Pleroma's agitation, but gradually the minutes tick by and the gallows remain empty.
First one minutes passes. Then five. Then fifteen. Slowly, it becomes clear to the people of Godsblood that Vaeka will not be arriving. Are the rumors true? Has she been saved? Have the Pleroma been successful, despite all odds?
As the hours pass and the crowds disperse, Vaeka Lovenskol is not officially reported as either living or dead. Fortunately, Godsblood is a place where information has a way of getting around, whether those in charge like it or not. Some are saying that she was seen being whisked away as if by powerful magic, following a bloody fight at the jail in which she was being held. Where did she go? Maybe her supposed connections to the forest people did her good, some surmise.
The days following Vaeka's failed execution carry a strange and uncertain energy. Where before there was tension and distrust, Godsblood now finds itself in a surreal reality where the Regent's word is apparently not absolute. Then again, do they really want a repeat performance?

QUESTIONS
What is the best way for Aions to travel to Godsblood?
For Pleroma, this is very easy, as they are likely to either already live there or be able to easy take Greentruth's portal. For Kenoma, they may come directly from Achamoth by boat as part of the Regent's envoy or arrive via Eustace's portal which is set up in a shed a fairly long jaunt outside of town. Once there has been some time to get established, Misa will be setting up another portal leading straight to the prison where Vaeka is being stored.
Are the Kenoma permitted by the Regent to kill other Godsblood citizens?
Though the Kenoma are authorized to kill any Bloodites that try to physically fight them, they are expected to keep things clean. The Regent prefers to only punish the guilty, and having the lines be clear will create less of a hassle in the future. Generally, Godsblood is not in a state where physical resistance is likely to happen unprovoked.

MOD CONTACT
ADDITIONAL NOTE: When investigating, please be specific about the approach your character is taking. Instead of asking "is there any information about X?", instead try something like "my character is speaking to these NPCs, what information can be obtained about X by chatting with them in a friendly manner?" What information you get back will depend both on where and how they are looking for something.

Re: MOD CONTACT
Crim and I were curious about Vaeka's mentioning of the Regent having always been ruling in Horos: is this common knowledge the Kenoma aions should have known or would they have different information? We're actually not sure how Childe and Emet-Selch should take information like that (as a new discovery or not) and whether it should affect any of their next few actions in the thread.
Thanks so much! ❤️

COMMITTED ACTIONS
ADDITIONAL NOTE: Actions that would have negative social repercussions for your character (killing NPCs, significant property damage, making a point of acting persistently hostile towards neutral or friendly NPCs) must be reported here in order to be considered canon. We also recommend reporting any particularly positive/helpful actions so that your character will be given due credit.
no subject
Also maybe worth mentioning, he has caused at least one small, localized earthquake while being held in the jail...probably not enough to cause property damage, but it's possible locals might have noticed some weird spooky tremors at the prison during an already tense time in Godsblood.
no subject
The battle that followed included several explosive displays of magic in the air (mostly flashy lights) but also the docks themselves were set on fire during the battle. (Emet-Selch puts these out after so they would have stayed contained to the docks themselves rather than spread to buildings.) The water was also superheated for a minute. Not a lot of battle banter/dialogue to be heard shouting at one another, but Himeka did have something of a visceral scream when she got innocenced.
Figures could have been seen in the sky for a minute or two, one of them with large wings.

Akua started out in the prison rescue on day one by outright harassing a Achamite Guard. As a swan.
Sorry.....Nothing of value was gained or lost, however.Later in the event, she assisted with rescuing Rand over here, to get him out of the Kenoma's clutches.
Later on, she did assist with the escape by distracting and attempting to pull away Howl, and got dissipated in the process! Rand will be stealing her shard back, and getting her to the sovereign shrine to pull her back together!
Information Gathering
This may require an edit when the thread concludes.

→ Intimidated Rand by magically tampering with the work equipment used by his neighbor he's on friendly terms with. Ciel stealth tracked her down, waited for her to close shop, and acted once the NPC's cookware is left unattended. The NPC woman will suffer a burn on her arm from the fire of her cookware going out of control upon activating it the second morning, but is okay otherwise and thinks of the event as an accident. Discussed and plotted out with Rand's player.
NPC THREADS
Vaeka & Emet-Selch
She never thought that she would be the one to end up behind bars, that it was going to be her loyalty to be tested.
The jail is a building she has walked past numerous times as she grew up in the city but never once did she look at it with the thought that she would see the inside. To be left with her captors as her only company; agents of The Regent, loyalists, with no clue how they found her out of everyone in Godsblood. Fear gives into despair as Vaeka repeats her oath quietly to herself.
She never thought this day would come. But it has.
One of the Kenoma continues to hound her. She thinks it's strange at first as she half-expected them to look more like the shadowy figures depicted in stories, but this Emet-Selch looks like any other person. It's terrifying to think of how she may have passed by Kenoma without realizing it.
Vaeka grits her teeth, refusing to look at the man.
"I've said I don't know."

rand al'thor, pleroma, martyr
don't run with knives, kids! | closed to abel, later ft amos + gray
the just isn't to take away from the importance of their job tonight. the pleroma who'd come together to try to save vaeka desperately need to know more about what they're walking into. where kind of measures are there to keep her locked away, how many people (including fellow aions) are they up against, and what capabilities to they have? this isn't the only attempt at reconnaissance, but every single one of them matter.
strictly speaking, rand doesn't need his father's sword for this. but he's glad to have it close at hand nonetheless, same as it has been since he found it again in this world. he's barely used it, but that's not the point. it's a piece of tam al'thor here with him, that survived attacks by fades and trollocs and the dark one himself. the dangers in horos are as big — bigger — than they were at home, and he's still shaken by the regent's address and the challenge they now face. but at least he has this.
he breathes out, looking sideways to abel. they're heading in the direction of the prison where vaeka's currently under guard, awaiting her execution. and so far the city is — normal isn't the word. if the populace had little liked the visits from a couple of openly kenoma aions (and eustace, rand now knows), they like having even more of them, and achamite soldiers, even less. but life still goes on in some measure, and seeing people go about ordinary errands feels somehow eerie. not that he has any idea how a populace might normally behave in this situation, or if that'd be any different. he doesn't know the last time there was a public execution in andor, if two rivers can even be called part of andor.

misa amane | kenoma | lover
open to PLEROMA, days 1-5
Hey, I can see you there.
[ She'll then go on to give a brief description of the Pleroma in question's surroundings, and the clothes they're wearing— something along the lines of with the white shirt, inbetween those two buildings with the round windows. Perhaps the character is just scouting out the situation, or perhaps they're moving supplies, setting up something, it could be anything. If she knows the character's name, she'll go as far as to refer to them as that.
It may occur to some that it's not natural to be spotted from this distance away from the building— though Misa speaks as if it's the easiest thing in the world. As for where she is, in the very, very far distance, she's hidden behind some roofing, only the very top of her head peeking out. ]
Run along, and I won't tell anybody, okay?
[ On the earlier days, she'll leave things there with a warning, though will stay on the line in case the Pleroma has anything to say. On later days, she's incredibly likely to skip the warning before beginning her attack. Any incoming Pleromas on those days will first feel a stiffening of the tips of their fingers— upon inspection, their hand will be turning to stone.
It's not as if she's static, though— Pleromas may also be able to catch her clearly from her perch at specific moments - when she switches hiding spots on the roof, or when she hops off from Howl's back after a patrol. Occasionally, she's alone up there, and is forced to pace the perimeter of the roof by herself to keep a wide eye on things. Though these moments are far and few between, openings do exist. ]

dextera • pleroma (lover)
[ dextera, against all reasonable odds, is still trying to hide his own aion identity in godsblood. he knows it can’t possibly be much longer before they’re all exposed, considering one of their own was made public before this and now vaeka has a target on her head… but he’s still being cautious in the city he’s made his home. what this practically means is that he’s using an assortment of the traps and other small devices he’s made to try to put soldiers and aions alike out of commission in advance of vaeka’s scheduled execution.
he can’t let it come to pass. that, he refuses to entertain.
he doesn’t set off any explosions in the city, afraid of harming the regular citizens; instead, the traps he uses are a bit more localized and a lot more quiet than a bomb would be. it doesn’t necessarily make them less incapacitating, though—while he settles for milder effects for the human guards that might get in the way of the pleroma, he reserves the less pleasant options for those he knows and recognizes as the enemy.
this means hallucinogens primarily, a burst of mushroom spores taken from the lohkimareen forest for this particular purpose. or… maybe he gets his powders mixed up and you just end up leaking tears and sweat. it’s not exactly effective, but it is embarrassing, isn’t it?
either way, the creator isn’t far from his creation; those who want to find the source of the little metal object that just diffused spores everywhere won’t have to look hard for dextera cautiously lurking around a corner. ]
[ just because dextera is good at making things doesn’t necessarily mean he’s good at using them.
inevitably, there are times that a kenoma passes by or over one of his traps without triggering it, and dextera follows soon after to check it out. he doesn’t think about how badly this will go for him when he starts to press his fingers into the ‘button’ mechanism of the trap—which means his face is greeted with a full-on dose of his own medicine. ]
—!!
[ so much for being stealthy; dextera coughs up a storm, more surprised than suffocating. it’s only a matter of time before his own work catches up with him. ]
( for everything else! i’ll also be posting closed starters as needed, and/or we can plot something specific or you can give a twist to one of these prompts to personalize it or whatever. i’ll also be happy to do any aftermath threads here as well, i just didn’t want to make a prompt that was “come bother him!” even though that’s the situation he’ll largely be in. his plotting comment is here, but i’m also in the game discord and on plurk at
sabotage, day 3
And it pays off, because he doesn't even need the telltale sign of the Pleroma clinging to Dextera from his shard — he knows that guy. Should be easy enough to grab—
It's while he's looking right at Dextera, advancing right in his general direction, that the trap goes off, and before Amos knows it he's inhaling mushroom spores and what the fuck. What the fuck. He stops moving, trying to get his bearings — why does it feel like the ground is shifting out from under him — why does his body not quite feel like his — and.
He could've sworn Dextera was just right there.
Where the hell did he go, Amos wonders, as the world seems to start to swim around him, and his heart rate starts to tick up in response. ]

johnny / pleroma / firebrand
[ it's a pain in the ass for him to get to and around Godsblood, which is why he doesn't visit - true, Greentruth is also a pain in the ass, but it's easier to stay put than travel about when walking's not an option. Unfortunately, staying put is very much not an option this time, either, and so, he's staying in Godsblood for the next few days. A vacation, he says, if any curious locals ask about him.
In reality, it's the opposite. This is all business, and bloody business, too.
He's lucky, for once, that he's in a wheelchair; mostly everyone ignores him as a potential threat, which means he can move about with a little more freedom in the city, especially since the majority of civilians haven't seen him before. (There are certain bars he's not welcome in from his original stay here, but he avoids those.) Most of the time, he's minding his own business. However, very early in the morning, he can be spotted lingering near the outside of the jail building. In one hand, he has a piece of bread, which he's nibbling at like a little bird. His other hand is empty. If one looks closely, however - and one is sensitive to magic and the supernatural - they might see faintly-glowing markings on it, blue and star-shaped.
If any Kenoma he recognizes are around and meet his gaze, he'll give them a terrible stink eye.
On the other hand, if you're a Pleroma, he'll silently beckon you over. ]
What d'you think?
[ and if you're a stranger of unknown alignment... well, he'll give you a flat look that dares you to try something. Punk. What're you lookin' at? ]
II. GRAY (CLOSED)
[ Good news: the Pleroma have done a decent enough job of vaguely mapping out this building that Johnny thinks he might know a near-direct route to the cell they're keeping Vaeka in. Bad news: he has no idea who might be on guard duty in the building, or when.
He leans towards early morning and late-night visits, when he thinks peoples' shifts might be nearing their ends, in the hopes that they'll either be tired or in the process of switching; so far, it's worked out. A Joestar is a Joestar, however; his luck can only take him so far, and soon enough, he's not only running into a Kenoma, but the very last one he wanted to see. (And the room's not close enough to the cell to be useful, to boot.) ]
-- fuck -- [ he hisses under his breath, then his eyes widen. ] -- Gray?!
[ maybe she'd stepped into this little storage room for a breather, or maybe there's something in here she'd come to get, like a stashed lunch. She probably didn't expect to meet Johnny again, and by the looks of things, neither did he. He seems to have suddenly materialized out of thin air, his entire body stretched like spun taffy, unraveling into existence in an instant; if her eyes are keen enough, however, she might spy the tiny round hole behind him, fixed in the wooden border of the floor-level air vent. ]
no subject
She frowns at him, but it's more a look of concern with a dash of disappointment than hostility, probably akin to a mother finding out that her son wants to be an influencer when he grows up. ]
Mr. Johnny... I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to ask you to get back in the hole.
[ She has no clue what kind of teleportation magic he has, but she's sure that hole wasn't there before... ]

gray | kenoma | innocent
What she does know is that if she fails to do her part in guarding Vaeka, her fellow Kenoma will be the ones to suffer or die. The ball is already in motion; the Regent saw to that. No amount of dismay will change the plan. There's no use in complaining. Even if she has nothing against Vaeka, the risk of losing the people she's come to see as her companions is simply too much to abide by. ]

Thanks.
[ It's not necessary, but that kinda proves the part of her being a good person, doesn't it. He makes no move to drink it just yet, waiting for it to cool down, as he turns his head slightly to look out ahead of them, beyond the prison walls. ]
Pretty quiet out there so far. [ And he'd know; he's already been out and about a bit, venturing deeper into the city proper once it was clear they could afford to lose him for a few hours. He already has decent familiarity from his trip to Godsblood mere weeks ago; might as well see what Pleroma he can scrounge up, right? Since a number of them seemed to already be living here. ] Probably isn't gonna stay that way, but hey. Might as well enjoy it while we can, right?
[ ... Because for any apprehension Gray feels about the whole thing, Amos is perfectly comfortable with what they've been ordered to do, no different than if he'd been asked to check the air filters or pick up dinner or take out the trash (which, from his point of view, they're kinda doing).
He lightly blows on the tea, creating faint ripples across its surface, as he turns to look back at her. How're you doing? ]

The streets seemed devoid of the life they'd held before, the incursion of the Kenoma on the town had brought a tension that the town hadn't seen, despite the rather loose association with the Regent the town had enjoyed before, it was obvious that there was something... wrong.
Akua herself hadn't revealed her Aion status to the locals, and even now, her dresses were cut higher than they had ever been in Calernia, specifically to hide the shard that rested over her left breast. She didn't creep through the streets, but she moved at a quick rush, intending to move from one location to another with little dallying. When she wasn't involved in a rescue effort here, or there, she was... elsewhere, around the city.
Early on, she spent time at the waterfront, or above the city in her form of a black swan, but when she isn't lurking in alleys, or ducking around a corner. It's better to catch a bird's eye view of the area, and when she lands on a roof to observe a gathering down below, she does so only after transforming back into a human. Her head peered over the ledge, as she looked down, gauging the individuals below. She's easy to spot, regardless, so if one wants to call her out, they're likely to get a response.
Other than flying above, or watching from the roof of a building or two, Akua can be found walking in between buildings, her steps careful, and her head held high. For even though some from Godsblood were nervous, Akua Sahelian was Praesi, and beyond that, she was of the blood of the First Betrayal. She had little to fear, even from the Kenoma. Her pride is likely to get her in trouble one of these days. ]

Ernesto Salas | Pleroma | Lover
Closed to Caitlyn
Strangely though, he'd never considered which buildings made for the best sniper's nest. It's something that he's had to really think about in recent days as he's repeatedly circled the jail that the Kenoma have set up shop in. It's probably clear to them at this point that he's scouting the area looking for signs of weakness.
He just has to hope they haven't also realized he's been paying just as much attention to the buildings they're not camping out in as he picks out spots for Caitlyn.
They're on the top of one such building now. Ernesto is relaxing against a large chimney that blocks his view of the jail, but also blocks anyone else's view of him. Move to the side a bit and stay low though? You've got yourself a really nice line of view, and there are enough overhangs to stay hidden. More importantly, the roof slopes down towards its neighbor enough that someone quick and incredibly daring could slide down the side and make a leap over to the next, flatter rooftop.
A quick getaway in case things get hairy.
Ernesto glances up at the sky, eyes out for any Kenoma making aerial rounds. ]

Closed Starters: Syrlya | Champion | Pleroma
Amos - days after the rescue
So after a couple days recovery, he's back out for a different purpose: to patrol the wider area where the entrance to the tunnels and the portal are guarded and ensure the Kenoma don't get a chance to sniff them out. As he has before, he foregoes his disguise for a combination of the cover of alleys and magic invisibility to slip and patrol without drawing too much attention to himself. Ultimately, he's here for an Aion as long as the Kenoma are. But that also means he's minimizing his interaction with the locals.
The wariness pays off when he sees Amos passing through streets that, to him, are far too close to discovery. That face he recognizes from their prison break.
The shield is heavy on his arm as he slides it into place and grips the band tight. And then he slides out of the cover of his magic into Amos' path, his hand hand resting on the hilt of the blade as his tip.] Hoping you'll find Vaeka if you comb the city long enough?

Himeka Sui | Wanderer | Pleroma
Abel, Ciel, & Emet-Selch - Day 9
Though some of the other Pleroma opted to travel to Venera and see how things were faring there, Abel and Himeka opted to stay behind. Connecting with and relocating other Resistance members has been on their to-do list, as has been trying to find out just how Vaeka's own involvement was outed in the first place. No such luck thus far and then have naught to show for their efforts other than a few annoyed tavern patrons and equally confused tavern owners.
The docks are a decent ways away from the main hub of the city, giving them a little room and space from the last scene they had incidentally caused. Himeka sighs as they step down onto one of the lower docks, hopping a bit as she takes off her shoes as she walks. ]
Well, I feel like they won't be expecting to see your "two-timing mug" around here for a while.
[ A beat as she looks up at Abel a little sheepishly. ]

childe • firebrand • kenoma
akua.
There's no active intent to hunt down any potential Pleroma this time around, though. Childe's simply moving along looking for some fresh air and a place to think. He's going for a walk; it's just much easier to do it this way than on the actual streets for a myriad of reasons.
One of them happens to be that there's no one else around. So admittedly he has to do a double take when he spots a figure on the rooftops as well as instinctively find a need to identify if they're an aion— and of course the aura rings true for a Pleroma, even if he doesn't know which one. The legacy doesn't offer him much for identification when there still quite a few he's yet to meet.
The consideration to hide in case he hasn't been noticed yet, to see what they're up to without being privy to his presence would be an advantage, briefly flits across his scattered thoughts. Childe decides against it almost immediately. If he sneaks around that suggests there's something important to be gained and that he's involved in work business. He's taking a damn walk now, though, not doing patrol duty.
He'll just deal with them heads on if an altercation becomes necessary. The straightforward approach has generally done him well so far. ]

amos burton | kenoma | lover
ciel.
It's good timing for him, really; it hasn't been a full day yet since he found Rand, knocked him out, dragged him back with him. It hasn't been a full day since he turned back up at the prison with an unconscious Pleroma slung over a shoulder, his hands bleeding freely, the discovery that he was down a pair of digits. Since Ciel had helped heal him as best as she could, but turns out there's only so much that can be done.
Case in point: his palms are still cut deep; are gonna scar. He's still without the outer two fingers of his right hand, and since they don't have regrowth gel here, probably always will be. And yet after a night of fitful rest and no real sleep Amos had still decided to go back out into Godsblood, because there are Pleroma out there, because they're supposed to capture them, and getting a little busted up the night before shouldn't stop him from doing what needed to be done. So he hadn't let it.
(In a way, he's lucky it was only Dextera he'd found; got dosed with some hallucinogens, didn't catch anybody, but did bring the spent trap back with him for analysis. It isn't much, but at least things aren't worse.)
... But now he's really starting to feel it again, stinging and phantom pains alike. So. He does want to catch Ciel before she heads out since he doesn't know how long it's going to be until he sees her again, and, well, it'd be nice to get this seen to. (He's also a little curious as to where she's headed off to, so this serves as a decent excuse.)
He's able to find her with time to spare, though; raises a hand (that hand; it's his dominant one, it's instinctual and done without thinking) in greeting. ]
Hey. You got a minute?
[ He'd been out, he'd exerted himself a bit, and it's probably obvious the way the bandages wrapped around his palms, where his missing fingers used to be aren't exactly pristine anymore... He could use a spare hand when both of his need a bit of seeing to. ]
